Hi

I’m using webtrees 1.7.8 and hope someone can help.

I am trying to generate a Family Report which includes the people’s notes. I get the report OK but without the notes. Am I adding the notes to the wrong field or am I doing something else wrong? Please, any assistance most gratefully received.

If I upgraded to webtrees 1.7.9 would this fix the problem?

A family with a variety of notes can be found at

Clearly I am the only one interested in this. I am adding this so when I again try to do this in six months time I will at least remember what I have done before.

So the link to the person above does note print notes but the link to this person does. I realize it is not doubt something simple but I really would like to know what the difference between the two is. The notes appear to have been entered in the same spot. The link to the one which prints notes is:

I'm trying to do the same thing. Only the notes under the tab titled "notes" will print. I rarely write anything there. All the notes are within the note section of the act or fact section like yours is. Terribly frustrating. I don't think it can be done.

"Terribly frustrating" doesn't begin to cover it. I have started putting notes in both the notes section and into the text section for the sources. This way the notes at least print out as footers which is less than ideal, and if the problem we are having is ever fixed the notes should still print out where they are wanted. I use webtrees because I believe it is the way of the future but I find it so primitive at times. If I could code I try to help improve it but I am too old to learn.

Actually there are lots of issues with Reports in webtrees. This is probably the oldest and most neglected part of the source code and near impossible to maintain or make changes to.

That said, I first thought maybe if you use a Source instead of a Note that could solve the issue. Having seen the sort of notes you make, these are actually source citations!
So I had a play with the webtrees demo site, looked up an individual with some source citations (Queen Elizabeth for example) and ran the Individual's Report.
This results in some events having a reference to the source citation as a footnote:
Sources

1. Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_II

2. England and Wales birth index: District: St George Hanover Square, Year: 1926, Quarter: 2, Volume: 1a, Page: 583 Name:
Elizabeth A M Windsor
Mother’s maiden surname: Bowes-Lyon

3. Wikipedia: httphttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_II

What's missing here are the details of her marriage, marriage of the parents, etc.

I guess that if you value paper-printed static reports over dynamic pages of the web, you'd better look for a complimentary application which does reporting to your taste.

I think webtrees is the best web-based software so I'm sticking with it regardless of the note issue. For the desktop, I use brothers-keeper only.

Have fun

I think I'll have to make myself to the double entry for notes too. Oh well.

Have fun

Why would you want to use any desktop application anyway? Any changes or entries would just have to be duplicated into webtrees.
Regarding the rewriting or re-configuring of any charts, lists or reports, this would likely be premature pending the final release of version 2.0.

Do you need a web hosting solution for your webtrees site?
If you prefer a host that specialises in webtrees, the following page lists some suppliers able to provide one for you:

Hi Thomas,

You assume I duplicate into webtrees. I don't do that.

Sorry, I apparently misunderstood the original question.
