Install problems was created by ricklach
Trying to install webtrees. I get the following error: Warning: parse_ini_file(data/config.ini.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\Server\data\htdocs\genealogy\site-unavailable.php on line 47. It seems as though the file config.ini.php is not created. Setup is running on Win 10.

It looks like the webserver (I guess IIS ?) does not have permission to write to the folder C:\Server\data\htdocs\genealogy\data\

It is an apache server. In win 10 what permissions are required for the folder you noted.

I have given permissions to everyone in the list (users, guests, authenticated users, etc) to read, write, execute, full, but still cannot get past the error page. Setting permissions in windows is very convoluted. Do you have a quick tutorial on how to set the permissions in win 10 for the data folder. I have tried everything that I can think of plus some web tutorials - nothing has worked.

I'm afraid I haven't used Windows for many years (just Mac and Linux), so I have no idea. Sorry.

But hopefully there are some Windows users here on the forum...

greg, is the config.ini.php file generated during the installation after the step where you provide the administrative details?
