If you need to upgrade your PGV installation, then hopefully you will also consider that you can conveniently move to webtrees with our PGV-to-webtrees wizard. It will move ALL your users, news, favorites and family trees to webtrees in a matter of minutes.

I believe I know the answer to this, but I'd rather ask and be certain before I destroy something. I'm working with v1.7.9.
The GEDCOM--after an export to cleanup media location paths--still retains what looks to be a deprecated "_THUM" parameter under media objects settings in the records of individuals in the GEDCOM. It isn't throwing any errors, but the parameter displays in red when I edit one of those older entries.
Can I safely export the GEDCOM, manually delete all those "3 _THUM" lines using Notepad++, and import the GEDCOM back into place?
There are hundreds of instances of these in my file, and if there's no reason for them to be there, I'd like to clean 'em up.
Thanks!

webtrees doesn't use these - and has no plans to use them in the future.
Go ahead and remove them.

You don't need to export - edit - import, the batch update module can do this for you:
* go to the Control Panel
* menu Modules, option Module Administration
* select Batch Update
* select the tree and Search & Replace
* search for the tag including the newline after it:
* replacement text: leave empty
* search method: Regular Expression
* go to the Control Panel
* menu Modules, option Module Administration
* select Batch Update
* select the tree and Search & Replace
* search for the tag including the newline after it:
Code:
3 _THUM .*\n
* search method: Regular Expression

Many thanks, guys. I did not know about the integrated search & replace function. Sweet!
There are a couple of typos lingering in places in my primary GEDCOM from over a decade ago (e.g., "pobated" instead of "probated"; some "teh" instead of "the"), and you just gave me a quick way to correct those other minor, but lingering annoyances.
