After quite a bit of testing, it seems that the software certainly meets the "requirements" that we set for the software. As far as I'm concerned, we're switching to webtrees.
my next task is to convince the people who contribute to the family tree that this is the right choice ;-)

There are a few minor things I've run into so far:
1. In the pedigree view, part of the text falls outside the block. Now I think I read something somewhere about adjusting the text, but I can't find this anywhere anymore (nor the setting in the software). question: can this be adjusted so that all text falls neatly into the block?

To import from MyHeritage:
We have started our research into the myheritage software. I am also testing importing the myheritage files. This seems to be going reasonably well as far as I can tell. I do see extra fields appearing for all people, such as "Updated on" and "Record ID number". It seems that these are standard myheritage fields, is there an easy way to remove this at once? or is the best solution to check all records and adjust them one by one?

It also seems that photos are not imported (properly)?

the family tree now consists of almost 500 people, what would your advice be for the easiest way to import?

My feeling is that it is best to go through all the records manually, since we have several people, is it possible to export a list of all people in the family tree to, for example, Excel? then we can divide the records to make it as easy as possible to go through them.

thank you in advance!
Greetings Maikel

Kind regards,
Maikel

Hallo Maikel,

Hello Maikel,
welcome to the webtrees user community.
webtrees is a great programme, especially if you want to work with several people with it. The settings are so variable that even critical people could be convinced.
I assume that you are using the current version 2.1.17. Richard Cissée has written the Vesta AddOns, which are easy to install, to reduce the size of the display and to reduce large distances.
Photos are only taken into account in the export in the higher GedCom version. They therefore need to be maintained separately.
To get to grips with the special tags of Myheritage, there is a nifty tool by Peter Schulz: www.gedtool.de/
I wish you much pleasure with webtrees.

Best regards / Viele Grüße

thanks for your answer! i will deepdive into the gedtool the upcoming days.

i've quickly installed all the Vesta Addons, unfortunatly the pedigree still has too much text for the block ;-) and i seem to be unable to find the right setting in the vesta modules. below a screenshot of my issue.

Kind regards,
Maikel

Hello Maikel,
here, for example, the characters look smaller; even though the field is also too small for one person:

Kind regards,
Maikel

Regarding the "special" MyHeritage GEDCOM tags: there are two ways
1. Export from MyHeritage, use as suggested the GedTool, do some tidy-up steps in Excel, convert back to GEDCOM, and import in webtrees,
2. Import the GEDCOM file in webtrees and use Control panel / select your tree / data fixes / search and replace. Then you can search for GEDCOM records you don't like and replace them with an empty string so that they are deleted. Check this before you apply such an operation to all records in your tree.

Regarding the images. I cannot remember how I had done this a long time ago. You should be able to download them from MyHeritage and copy the image files to the webtrees folder data/media. Show us a typical OBJE record in your GEDCOM, please. Then we should be able to help you.
