webtrees might finally have some competition:
www.grampsweb.org
www.grampshub.com
I have no judgment for or against, but I do note that it doesn't have relationship privacy.

Competition is good for everyone, the more public projects the better. That is one way that new ideas get shared. Maybe then we can drive the social and utility monopolies of the world out of business and give everyone a fair shot ya know I have already made up my mind to stick with webtrees for my family site.

Puzzling that an upload is so slow if the local code and webserver code is mostly the same.

If you’re open to still working on it, you might add soem detail on support for privacy. Looks to me like Grampsweb/hub does not have relationship privacy. I think a user either has full access or the same limitations as any other limited user, not affected by relationships. That’s the biggest reason for me to not switch. Though the local/web sync would be quite nice.I have just done a comparison of GrampsWeb and webtrees . And decided to stay with webtrees

Yes, I will add some more comments about data security. The reason for that is that GrampsWeb is based on Gramps, which is a desktop application. On my own desktop, there is no reason for sophisticated data security. But GrampsWeb is never visible for guests, you always have to login.
That uploading a GEDCOM file with 10.000 persons in GrampsWeb needs several hours is more or less a bug. The reason behind this is that there are too many unnecessary calls to the database. At the desktop in Gramps, the import is as fast as in webtrees.
