Marriage, registered partnership and others was created by Lars1963
As seen in this discussion
www.webtrees.net/index.php/forum/8-trans...79-partnership#10619
there are nowadays more types of partnership which are not covered by webtrees. Greg is willingly to implement more types, but needs a list of desired types. Basically webtrees now handles two types of marriage (civil and religous) and a registered partnership.
In the Netherlands by law there are 4 types of partnership:
My question to the community: which other Types of Partnership need to be implemented by Greg?
In the Netherlands by law there are 4 types of partnership:
- civil marriage (a religous marriage does also exist, but is no longer recognized by law)
- registered partnership, also called civil partnership
- cohabitation agreement (drawn up by a civil-law notary)
- living together without any formal agreement
- marriage, civil or religious
- civil union, intended for same-sex couples because a marriage is not possible for them
- common-law relationship, which is the same as the dutch no. 4
My question to the community: which other Types of Partnership need to be implemented by Greg?

To me, the first four options make sense.
I'n Mexico the fourth one is called "Concubinato" or "Unión Libre"

Nice to see there is some development on this subject.
I would like to add that Aldfaer uses the following types in there GEDCOM.
Every relation is a 0 @ID@ FAM with a 1 MARR tag. Some could argue that this could be strange, but it works.
Every relation has a 2 TYPE 'sting' attached to indicate the type of relationship.
The following TYPES are used:
1: civil : nl:huwelijk | en:marriage
2: registered : nl:geregistreerd partnerschap | en:registered partnership
3/4: partners : nl:samenleven | en:living together
unknown : nl:relatie | en:relationship
none: nl:geen relatie | en:no relationship
not given : nl:onbekende relatievorm | en:unknown kind of relationship
At this moment webtrees shows the partners Type as a registered partnership. And in the family overview it has a column Marriage which is filled with the date of the relationship or Yes if there is no date.
I would like the Marriage column to be "Relationship" -> "Yes"/"Date" and the partners to be translated to samenleven.
Translating relationship to unknown and unknown kind to not given looks strange. I think this comes from the fact that Aldfaer assumes there is a relation by default so it sets this to unknown. And if there is no record of a relationship this is translated to not given.
Because a cohabitation agreement could be drawn up between people that don't have any other relation than the fact they share a roof maybe this is no separate category in aldfaer?

Hi Lars and Greg,I think Lars has done a very good job to find and explain these 7 relationships, they cover the most.
Maybe there can be an 8th: Unknown or Relationship unknown
And would be great if can be implemented

In the section Name you can write "BIRTH" or "MARRIED" which will be displayed (in Dutch) as "geboortenaam" en "aangenomen huwelijksnaam".
When two people are related in a registered partnership, they also can adopt the last name of the other. This can be known as (in Dutch) "aangenomen partnernaam" (or another term).

Hello,
new to webtrees. Is there a way to use sames sex marraige/registered partnerships in webtrees?
I tried several options, but to add a same sex marrige via webtrees gui seems not to work.
Any hints for that?
Regards,
Bernd

It can be done, but not automatically. Just click on the link to add a new 'wife' as you would normally do. In the form that appears you can change the gender.Hello,
