using "~" in dates was created by mac.alter
I am entering dates: 01 Jan 1903~31 Dec 1903 to =19.5pxexpand to from 01 January 1903 to 31 December 1903 (expanding moth is system generated). However, I'm finding that the tilde is not always responding. Tried both Mac Safari and Firefox browsers (current). Is this a glitch in =19.5pxwebtrees or Mac browsers. No idea if there are Mac users out there -- the one I do know of is not  =19.5pxavailable.

Hi,

Trying to understand what you want to achieve here..

1] Are you entering 01 Jan 1903~31 Dec 1903 and expecting from 01 January 1903 to 31 December

OR

2] Are you entering from 01 January 1903 to 31 December and expecting 01 Jan 1903~31 Dec 1903

Either of which I am curious to understand, I would like to see the tilde used (now I have seen  it in use) in such situations such as From & Between.. eg:

from 01 January 1903~31 December
between 01 January 1903~31 December

I've been pasting in the date "01 Jan 1900 - 31 Dec 1900". Removing spaces and replacing hyphen =19.5pxwith the tilde. which should result in 01 from January 1900 to 31 December 1900. There are too many entries to manually type all the dates, hence copy/paste.

x-y converts to BET x AND y
x~y converts to FROM x TO y

This works for me. I also use a Mac

Is this repeatable? Are you able to set up a situation that will fail and that I could look at?

I have been of the understanding one must use AND or TO not Tilde or hypen when using From and Between dates eg:

FROM 01 Jan 1853 TO 31 JAN 1853
BET 01 Jan 1853 AND 31 JAN 1853

Update
Having seen Greg's post, I now understand the usage and outcome desired of OP.. Learnt something new here!!

This is a data entry shortcut. There are lots of them. Click the help icon by the date field for more info.

The =19.5pxoccurrence of "~" not expanding to TO/AND is random unfortunately. For you to test, I'd need to create an admin account. Can email you offline. (The family tree is one of my public ones I play with.)
