Hello everyone! Ive been working on family tree research for most of my life. I started around 13 and have not really stopped since then. I find the search for information fun. As I get older, I've gotten the oppourtunity to travel and hang out with extended family. I learn more and more every day how interesting my family is to me. Like every family, We have musicians, architects, doctors, authors, etc.

Im curious what file types are supported on webtrees? .mp3 .mp4? any way to hear the music on the member who created it page? Any way I can add a blog tab or forum tab to webtrees directly without using an external source? Im kind of wanting this installment of webtrees to not only be family history, but kind of a showcase where family members can log in and document their acomplishments.

Audio/Video: probably not embedded, but supported by the browser. See eg www.webtrees.net/index.php/forum/help-fo...r-embed-video#105734

Blog: best fit is to add the "News" block to the Home page of a tree.

Forum: nope. To be fair, I just converse via email / whatsapp to the other member that is truely interested. Same with visitors giving feedback: I use email. A link to the contact page is on each and every page.

If more than one other family member is willing to contribute: congrats! I learned (the hard way) that people are egotistic. They apply for an account, check their own data, then never log in again.

Thank you Bertkoor. How would you go about documenting family traditions that involve many members of the family tree? Create a source with the story and link it to each member? I guess Ill have to play around with things a little more.

And yes, A few of my family members say they want to get involved and never contribute anything (My dad for example). Trying to get information out of some people is like talking to a post. Its probably the same as someone trying to talk to me about sports, I really just dont have much care for sports.

On the other hand, There is at least one person in each branch that is interested and is actively working on their own family tree so My hope is that they would enjoy having a place to document everything for the family that isnt ancestry.

Interview the eldest family members. Make notes, record it. That is an invaluable source of "soft" information. If members of other family branches do the same, that would be excellent.

A source or (less formal) shared note could work indeed. And there's also the FAQ you can fill with a bunch of text. With formatting, optionally in multiple languages.
