A read only option was created by brozer
Hi,
Please implement an option that dsable all functions and options related edition gedcom. I think users would like online genealogy but uses another editor.
But leave scripts related edition gedcom like convert / to space/ usefull after gedcom import.
Thanks

Or let me put it different: why would they (or you) like to use another editor?

Then you think wrong. I personally don't use any other editor, and I tend to think many other users as well. Not all users ofcourse, but a substantial amount at least.I think users would like online genealogy but uses another editor.

It is already there: visitor mode. You only need to log out.Hi,

One addition: there is also a user role Member which needs to authenticate (log in) and can have access to all private data. A Member can not edit, just like Visitor (for that he needs promotion to role Editor) and gets a view without all the editing clutter.
So for users that don't want/need editing facilities I'd recommend to create two user profiles: one Admin for importing the GEDCOM file, one Member for viewing.

So yes: member is the role for that users.
But arraging with wt-edit is sure less work than merging gedcom-files by the admin.
By the way: different editors produce different gedcom ( for eample: inline notes and inline mediaobjects.) Take this into account.

Sorry my English is not very well.
I don't say that all users used another editor, but for users who only want online genealogy to have an interface light without editing options.
