Foundling fact was created by jcnventura
Hello,
I'd like to request a "Foundling" fact which would modify how webtrees works by not expecting that individual to have any parents.
1. In the individual page, it would remove the option to "Add a father" or "Add a mother"
2. In the family page, it would not display the "Add a father" or "Add a mother" boxes.
3. In the pedigree view, the boxes for his ancestors would not be empty, but instead completely removed (even if it is by setting CSS opacity to 0).
I have a few such in my tree, and it is somewhat disturbing to me that they look like I just haven't had time to research them when in reality they are eternal brick walls.

What about using DNA tests to find their parents? Do they have adoptive families?

I think João hit the horizon of ancestors prior to written records being available.
DNA tests really won't help, and we don't all stem from Charlemagne.
I saw a tree where such individuals were made children on Adam & Eve. A reader would then understand lineage is not going any further.

Yes, I'm talking about foundlings recorded way in the past. Autosomal DNA can realistically help in the last 5 generations (I know there can be exceptions), and then the inherited shared segments become too tiny to be able to be assigned to any specific ancestor couple.
Adam and Eve are an option, but it doesn't really solve the problem, as the system will still want me to add their parents. Maybe one other option instead of foundling would be to mark a person as a brick wall. That would disable the prompts to add more information about their parents, and could somehow be collated in a "brick wall report".
