For some reason some of the editors delete the Given Names and Surname from an individual thinking that this deletes the record.

Is it possible that this can be prevented if it is the only name the individual has or if that is not possible a search feature where individuals with no name can be found.

Thank you
John

If an individual has no surname you can go to the “LISTS” Individuals and select “no surname”.

Individuals with no name should be listed under “…”

Thank you Ken. I appreciate the information.

However I wonder if it is possible to stop it from happening

Depending on the custom, time and available information, it is possible for an individual to:
1) not have a surname
2) not have either a known given name or a known surname
3) not have a known name but have recorded attributes
4) be corrected from having a name in your DB to removing name because of the above.

If data entry people don’t understand how to delete an individual you should:
1) Teach them
or
2) Require all input from them to be reviewed before it becomes fully added to the DB.  webtrees has a switch to add this function by user!

I’m not sure what you are asking! In your initial entry you said:

For some reason some of the editors delete the Given Names and Surname from an individual thinking that this deletes the record.

If you or a trusted individual reviews all changes you can check for instances where a data entry person deletes a given name or surname, and then ask that data entry person why they performed that deletion. If they indicate they wanted to delete the individual, you can tell they the proper way to delete the record, if they deleted the value for another reason you can except the change!

A reviewer could if desired check that data is properly sourced, that dates are correct, spelling is correct. Any piece of data could be checked if you want and corrected before it is excepted into the database.
