Hi everyone,

I'm new to webtrees and this forum, but I've been running my family tree on PhpGedView for 5 years and now in the process of migrating to webtrees 1.7.12. I've successfully migrated my GEDCOM and manually migrated the media files.

I'm having a number of minor issues. In this post, I'll start with "For technical support or genealogy questions" contact not working.

The contact is supposed to open a new window with a contact form; instead, it's opening a new window with this url: gggoogle.com/?to=igor&method=messaging2&...com%252Fedituser.php and of course, I'm getting a page not found error. This is happening if I don't sign in, or if I sign in - same behavior.

In my Family Tree configuration, I already set the webtrees reply address, Genealogy contact and Technical help contact.

In my Account (I'm the contact person and the admin for the site), I tried setting the Preferred contact method to "Internal messaging with emails" and to "webtrees sends email with no storage" options - same error. If I set it to "Mailto link, it opens up my email program (which is the right behavior), but that's not the option I really want here.

I spent some time examining the javascript message() function as well as the message.php files, but don't have a good idea why it's happening. Your expert opinions are appreciated :)

thank you
Igor

From the error log, I noticed the request was made to mywebsite.com/message.php?to=igor&method...com%26ged%3Dmygedcom and then being redirected to gggoogle.com/?to=igor&method=messaging3&...2526ged%253Dmygedcom

That led me to examining my .htaccess files. That was my problem. There was a rewrite rule there that was redirecting to invalid site (I guess for security reason I added it there years ago) RewriteRule .* gggoogle.com/ [R,L]. Once I removed that line, this issue was resolved.

I can't change the person for "For technical support or genealogy questions X X"
I can change the Data controller as add/delete but not X X.
How to do this? I deleted cache.. not helped.

This is the webtrees 1.7 category. Is your question related to version 1.7 or 2.1?
This is a very old thread. It seems that your question is not related to that thread.

Right.. webtrees-2.1.18
Sorry I missed this.

From logic looks it is always 1st user.. and can't be changed. For this must replace id user? Strange.

I do not understand what you are saying, sorry.

Go to
  1. Control panel
  2. Manage family trees
  3. Preferences
  4. Contact information
  5. Technical help contact
There you can select any of the defined users as a "Technical help contact", not only the first one. If there is only one user defined, then you can only select him/her, but that is clear.

Where is your problem?

I missed this before and sense. This working little unpredictable if more than 1 tree with different and different help+tech contact.
Each tree have different help+tech contact in footer, but privacy is from where? Once I saw aggregated

To be sure /module/privacy-policy/Page/
- I'm talking about:
dev.webtrees.net/demo-stable/index.php?r...policy%2FPage%2Fdemo
- also like from 1st user

It is a list of users registered as site “administrator” in their user profile. Most often just one person, who is id number 1 simply because they set the site up.

Seems pretty obvious given the purpose of the privacy statement!

Not sure.. I'm admin as IT specialist, eg. to resolve bugs, etc. but for RODO etc. not have time and other user should operate around. If they hacked or something then DPO (data protection officer) can write me what they meet as situation, etc. and this looks more like complaints contact not IT.
