I import data from a gedcom file; inspecting this file with notepad I see all the notes are there. But in webtrees, going to person and clicking the note-tab I do not see anything. Any help appreciated

Would you be so kind to show us the piece of the GEDCOM with a note which is not visible in webtrees?

What Tag is just above the NOTE tag? This would be a "1 xxxx"

Is this part of an INDI or FAM record?

Did you click the "Show all Notes" check box?

This file looks the same as before!

When you look at the “Raw” GEDCOM in webtrees please show or describe what you see.

I’m assuming that your NOTE tag is an inline tag when you import them. But beyond that we can’t know what webtrees sees after the import!

We don’t know at this time where the NOTE is used, INDI or FAM record, or what type of fact or other is the primary tag.

Also, please tell us what release of webtrees you are currently using, and what software produced the original GEDCOM.

Thank you.

If you are signed in to webtrees as an ADMIN, every fact and record type has a view RAW GEDCOM link, it usually can be found in the “edit” function or menu option of the element. I’ve been away from webtrees version 1 for too long to remember more specifics.

... and it is necessary to help you, that you show us a bit more than the lines in your text file (attachment): please show us in the GEDCOM file that you exported by Cumberland and imported by webtrees not only the NOTE/CONC lines itself, but also the lines before (starting with a level 0 record (maybe an INDI or FAM record), e.g. "0 @I123@ INDI").

Can this be a privacy thing? In other words, does it matter whether you're logged in or not? Because you can make all notes private with a setting in the Control Panel.

But you say the note is sandwiched inbetween two "0 INDI" lines. So you have an individual with no name, no linked family, no nothing, just a note. Indeed that cannot be found back.

AND

If Bert’s statement is true then the NOTE starts at level 2 and the line before it is a level 0, the NOTE should start at level 1 for it to be proper GEDCOM.

Maybe the program that generated this GEDCOM either broke the export, or does not know how to make a proper GEDCOM.

Please, please, please, show us the GEDCOM that we asked for.

1). Identifying in the GEDCOM how the NOTE was generated out of Cumberland. Is it an “inline” NOTE or a “linked” NOTE? Many programs claim they support v5.5.1 of GEDCOM but miss some very important aspects and therefore only support part of the standard.

2). The entire GEDCOM from Cumberland for the entire individual you say is having issues with Notes, pointing out the NOTE you are not seeing.

3). Can you show us the GEDCOM as see by webtrees. You would need to be signed in as an administrator and look at the “RAW” GEDCOM.

So far you have given us so little information that it is impossible to help you. We do want to help, but we have very little to go on.

Thanks

Ken

sorry for the confusion, attached here is part of the Gedcom as generated by Cumberland Family Tree, no notes at all are seen in webtrees,I selected one note between 0 @I000827@ INDI and 0 @I000828@ INDI out of the large (1,2 Mb) Gedcom file. Could you shoe me a screenshot as how to see the Gedcom as seen by webtrees, I cannot find it
Thanx!

This note (actually a source citation) is what we call an Inline note, providing extra information on the Event above it (in this case the death)

The tab with notes has a checkbox "Show all notes" that by default is off. If you tick it, the notes should show:
