GEDCOM export was created by Wolf
when I tried this evening to export the GEDCOM the result file is empty

looking into the log-file I see the attached error message

this morning I exported the GEDCOM. I reimported the file as separate tree and tried to export the new tree. This works
Any Idea what to do ?

kind regards Juergen

when I tried this evening to export the GEDCOM the result file is empty
looking into the log-file I see the attached error message

The logged message effectively says that the export function encountered a record (person, family, source, etc) that was null: nothing. It cannot extract facts to export (data) from nothing. It choked on that and apparently halted the process.

this morning I exported the GEDCOM. I reimported the file

So on a second attempt it did work. "Something" must have changed, but it's now very hard (if not impossible) to determine exactly what. Were there any pending changes perhaps?

Any Idea what to do ?

It now all works, right? Cross your fingers it doesn't happen again ;-)

stamboom.BertKoor.nl runs on webtrees v2.1.20

The error means that the HEAD record has been deleted.

> I reimported the file

This would have re-loaded the HEAD record. So you should not have the same problem next time.

thanks a lot for the feedback
I was probablly not very clear.
The GEDCOM of yesterday morning had 60 person less than the current webtrees database
By using the old GEDCOM I am losing data. This option would be a fallback only in case no other solution is available.

Would the problem be solved by creating a dummy GEDCOM, import this GEDCOM into webtrees as a separate tree and than merge both trees?

No, because merging trees does not merge header records.

I am only guessing that your database is missing a HEAD record.

You can check by looking in the table wt_other for a record with o_type=HEAD and o_id=HEAD

If you do not find one, create an entry with a valid HEAD record in the o_gedcom column.

FYI, I have just updated the export process so that it will still work after the HEAD record is deleted.
