Media privacy setting in Control Panel-> MyTree-> Privacy-> Privacy restrictions was created by RBaker
Hello,
At the bottom of the page in Control panel--> Tree1--> Privacy--> Privacy restrictions, there are options for setting privacy permissions for the records and media in the tree. The description of these privacy options reads "Privacy restrictions; You can set the access for a specific record, fact, or event by adding a restriction to it. If a record, fact, or event does not have a restriction, the following default restrictions will be used."
I am attempting to set the the default privacy of my media objects to allow only members to see media, then change individual privacy settings for a media object/item (pictures, etc.) by adding a restriction to allow that media item to be seen by visitors. The restriction for visitors is changed and saved, however the media object is still not shown to visitors, only to members.
I thought that I could allow visitors to view individual media objects if the resriction was changed to allow visitors after I changed the default to only allow members to view media objects.
Am I doing something wrong in attempting to set individual media item restrictions to less restrictive than the default I set? Attached is a pic of the settings referenced, I added the top setting. I am using webtrees v2.0.17
I am trying to avoid going through the whole tree media one at a time and changing restrictions.
Thanks for any guidance with this,
R Baker

I just noticed that the media I changed restrictions to "Visitor" is allowed to be seen in the slideshow , but not seen in "Media" or "Album" in the profile.
I posted this to "Open Discussion", no idea why it ended up in "Help for version 2.1"
I apologize for that, however that happened.
This topic should be moved to "Open Discussion" please.

If (all) media objects are only visible to members via the Privacy restrictions, then individual objects can be made public for visitors. To do this, add the restriction "Show to visitors" to the media object or add '1 RESN none' to the raw GEDCOM of the media object.

Not working using either method.
When I changed restrictions on the media, "1 RESN none" was added to the GEDCOM. That did not work, the media did not show to a visitor.
When I added "1 RESN none" manually to the GEDCOM media object, it still does not show to a visitor.
The privacy settings are the same as the attachment picture below. Neither method of adding 1 RESN none to the media object GEDCOM allows the media to be viewed by a visitor (non-member) after changing the privacy settings.
Once again, these are the privacy settings. I added the top line to limit viewing of all media objects to members. After adding that top line, I was hoping to change the restrictions on select media objects to allow viewing by visitors.

Why is this privacy area so mysterious?
I've been trying to learn for a long time and no one appears to help.
Whenever I ask a question, few respond.
Are these functions really little used?
I look forward to receiving an adequate response to this post from my colleague, as it works for me as well.
