Geolocation was created by sonoptikon
I still have my own ged.File, and I import it all 2 our 3 days.

All my places have locations. webtrees accepts all places from imported ged. But webtrees does not accept my values - thy are in the same form as in webtrees (GD).I can see all places which came from my ged, and I can ee which places are not used when I changed them in my ged.
Nevertheless webtrees shows all the maps of any person's places.

Now I am filling all places in webtrees Geolocation with the correct values. Much work, but much fun :-)

Nevertheless webtrees shows the places of my ged, even if there are not in webtrees Geolocation. Very strange: I added correct geolocation to webtrees, but it shows a wring geolocation of a person. looh here: webtrees.sonoptikon.de/index.php?route=%...I2981%2FMarie-Oehler / Death of a brother, and death)

Please don't tell that I should use webtrees to maintain my genealogy . I know - nevertheless webtrees should accept all places from import, and all geocoordinates. Please tell me if this could be implemented easily.

Let me repeat:

If webtrees imports my gedcom, it will accept locations of events, but not the location of places.

Nevertheless webtrees notices which places I am using in my ged. And it notices if there was a place which is not any more used in my gedcom - so I can delete this place.

In one case I noticed, that a place (in my example Arizona) was not accepted.

So I have two different "worlds": The location of events, and the location of places. webtrees will accept the location of the events (and show the places), but not the location of places.

Did I understand this in a correct way? Would it give sense that webtrees accepts the locations of the places, too? Maybe it is somehow complicated because in a gedcom there is now special list of places, so that webtrees hast to accept over 3000 places (in mey case), of which only 300 maybe the same.

GEDCOM does not support locations of places.

Show me the GEDCOM data that you are trying to import.

GEDCOM does not support locations of places.

Show me the GEDCOM data that you are trying to import.

It looks like this (its me) - the locations of the events are shown correctly:

0 @I839@ INDI
1 _UID 39539A5C68E9054498FCC9965484306980EB
1 NAME Werner /Kuhnle/
2 GIVN Werner
2 SURN Kuhnle
1 SEX M
1 FAMC @F207@
2 PEDI birth
1 FAMS @F106@
1 FAMS @F329@
1 FAMS @F577@
1 SOUR @S1@
1 OBJE @O493@
1 BIRT
2 DATE 1 MAY 1946
2 PLAC Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
3 MAP
4 LATI N48.77694321
4 LONG E9.180555344
3 _LOC @L15@

You cannot see me in webtrees, because I am still alive ;-) But you can check events of other persons: webtrees.sonoptikon.de

Code:
1 BIRT 2 DATE 1 MAY 1946 2 PLAC Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany 3 MAP 4 LATI N48.77694321 4 LONG E9.180555344

This is the location of the birth event.
It shows the exact location of the birth.

It is not the location of Stuttgart.
It is not the location of all other events in Stuttgart.

Each event should have its own co-ordinates - church, cemetery, hospital, etc.

But, I see you have _LOC records. I guess you have the location of Stuttgart stored in record L15.

webtrees does not (yet) import co-ordinates from _LOC records***. But there is a third-party module which doe this.

*** This is because the location data in webtrees is shared between all trees. An update to one tree would change data in another.

Yes, I understand!

What about this "third-party module", will it come with a next version?, or must I implement this as an existing function!

If we are to believe your profile at the bottom of your entries you are using version 1.4.1 of webtrees. Version 2.0 (the current release of webtrees has this add-on). You have entered your discussion in webtrees version 2.1 which is at alpha release and as of yet is not finished, therefore no add-on code has been created!

Assuming webtrees 2.0, try here: cissee.de/

Yes that's ok! I don't need it.
But my question is: Should I delete the old version on server (except data and media, but date/cache and data/tmp) so that I get a "clean system"?

What version of webtrees do you use now? 1.4.1?

From 1.4.1, you cannot upgrade directly to 2.0

See here for full instructions.
