Upgrading from 2.0 causes blank page was created by Juulemanden
Hi!

In order to get around the calendar error caused by php 8, I desided to upgrade from 2.0 to the 2.1 beta. But now I only get a blank page.

krugerjuul.dk/slaegt/

What to do?

Regards
Lars

You should see errors in either the webtrees logs or the web http server log files. Also, your site appears to be a non standard installation. What custom modules, themes are you using?

Well, I only use one additional theme, but I can not recall it name. And it no longer seems to appear in the themes-folder.

Where do I find the "webtrees logs or the web http server log files"?

Your http server log files are somewhere on your server.
We can't tell you where. Every server is different.

If you are on a managed webhosting service, your provider will probably make them available in a folder somewhere.

If you are running a virtual private server, then they are probably in a folder called /var/log/httpd or /var/log/apache2 (or similar)

I have a blank page when I reach my webtrees, thus no access to the control panel. Or does the control panel have it own url, that I could try to reach?

You could look in your database (table wt_log).

But I guess the server logs will be more useful.

Do this help? Or should I try to revert my update?

In another topic about 2.1 where the error-stack looks a little like mine, one solution is to "delete the folder "vendor" at the server and replace it with a fresh copy."

I wonder if that could help in this case.

Do you have a setting for "base_url" in your data/config.ini.php?

But adding...

base_url=" krugerjuul.dk/slaegt "
rewrite_urls="0"

... to that file helped a lot. That file had not been changed for something like eight years. I guess since I started using webtrees.

Adding this line is part of the upgrade to 2.0

Ok! Well, that migth be, but it does not help much just to write it somewhere, and then hope that the users read and reflect on it. And 2.0 did not warn about that missing setting.

But I am happy that we found the fault. And I am also a happy webtrees user.

I wonder how many other upgraded 2.0 sites have this 'missing' setting.

Lars
