Inconsistency and Errors Relating to Lists of INDIs/FAMs. was created by StuartG
I have recently upgraded to V2.1.17. I am experiencing some issues but the most important for me at this time are the errors arising from using the Lists/Individuals and Lists/Families.
When I am logged in at my website, I have 12 people with the surname of McARTHUR and one (1) with the family name of MACARTHUR. One McARTHUR has no death event, whilst the remaining eleven have death events. The Individual List shows one (1) MACARTHUR and 13 (not 12) McARTHUR. The major cause of my concern is that when I click on the McARTHUR name the resultant screen shows no record. See image:
I am therefore unable to select any McARTHUR individual. I also note the heading has changed from McARTHUR to MCARTHUR.
If I now click on the name MACARTHUR on the Individual list, the following screen is displayed.
Matters to note:
1. Heading now displays as MACARTHUR/McARTHUR. Note the small 'c' here when it displays in caps above.
2. In this instance the two names are combined and thirteen individuals are displayed. Note the only individual with the name MACARTHUR.
This is similar to the issue on the Demo site. If you click on 'B' in the Individuals list here, six names will be displayed. Here I note that the only name in caps is BATTENBERG. The other five listings are with an initial cap then lower case. Yet, as far as I can tell, there is only one individual with the surname Battenberg. This INDI is Prince Louis of Battenberg (1854-1921) and his name is entered as Battenberg and not BATTENBERG. Where does the entry in all caps in the list originate?
The name BATTENBERG on the list indicates that there is one person by that name. If you now click on that name it will display 140 Individuals, not just one (1). If you now use the filter on this list and filter the 140 listed for BATTENBERG, four (4) Individuals will now be displayed. So we go from One (1) to 140 then back to four (4) whilst searching for an Individual with the name BATTENBERG. Yet, as far as I can tell, there is only one INDI with Battenberg in the Surname field.
This discussion here also appears to be related to the issues I raise.

As always, all advice is appreciated. Thanks and regards,

I have reported a new issue related to the inconsistent listing of names and the subsequently linked list of individuals for that name:

I think this is a definite bug and I thank andrewg_oz for submitting an issue report on github..This bug was not so apparent in v2.1.16 as clicking on either name produced an amalgamated list and not an empty list. But it was then and it still is a bug in v2.1.17. Clicking on any name in the INDI/FAM list should not produce an amalgamated list. It should only list those people with the name as displayed.I have no knowledge of the search functions used in webtrees. Perhaps there is a need/desire to amalgamate similarly spelt names when using the general search functions, but when similarly spelt names are separately displayed in the INDI/FAM lists, the resultant list should contain a list of the people with that same name; not amalgamated or combined and certainly not an empty list.
