Baptism and media object ? was created by dufau68
Bonjour !

I noticed that it's possible to add one or several media objets to such events as birth or wedding.

How comes that it is not possible for a baptism ? Am i doing something wrong ?

Experts opinions and advice most welcome !

You can add media to baptism. In the same way as the other events.

Perhaps attach a screenshot of the page you are looking at.

This is the screen for the baptism of my great-grandfather (sorry, it's in french)

This is his birth

Media object fields in the birth's screen, not in the baptism's.

Just tick the box at the bottom "modifier avec toutes les balises GEDCOM".

To get this as default (which does make sense) a small change is needed, but at the moment (on my phone) I cannot tell what exactly.

stamboom.BertKoor.nl runs on webtrees v2.1.20

I looked at the Demo ( link in menu above here).

If you select “Baptême religieux” (christening in English) you cannot add media. If you select “Baptême“ (Baptism) you can.

Looks like a bug??

Bonsoir !

I have not checked that... (no manual). I just used a GEDCOM file that my local software spitted out. I'll have a look at that.

Thank you for the tip !

Many people consider BAPM and CHR to be identical, and thus there is no point using two different tags for the same thing.

Also, many languages only have one word for this, so it gets confusing having two tags with the same label.

CHR is therefore one of a group of "lesser-used" tags that are disabled by default. See:

Control panel -> Gedcom tags

So, webtrees isn't loading the definitions for CHR by default, and so it doesn't know about any valid subtags. It can only show/edit the sub-tags that already exist in your data.

Enable the CHR tag, and you'll get the behaviour you expect.

There is a manual in German . You can use your browser translation function to read it.

Hallo, Hermann !

I tried that, using DeepL, which seems to me the best translation tool, among all I've tried.

Still, the translation of specific words of the genealogy lacks in accuracy.
