order in Family Navigator was created by mariannevanharten
How can I change the order of families in the Family Navigator?
In the Gedcom of the person I see the first marriage followed by the second marriage.
The family navigator shows the second marriage followed by the first marriage.
The main screen of the person shows the right order.
Best regards,
Marianne van Harten

If you open the tab "Families" of a person, then at the bottom there is a link labelled "Re-order families", just above "Link this individual to an existing family as a child" and "Add a wife/husband".
Pedantic: the GEDCOM of the person does not contain marriages, only the role of the person in families.
The marriages themselves are events of a family, not of a person.
The list of facts & events of a person always shows the events in chronological order.
If you say "GEDCOM" then I read that as "RAW gedcom", which apparently is not what you meant.
Or is it??

Person A was married to B in 1939. There was a note she was widow of person C, so I add a marriage A-C and dated in "before 1939".
Yes, I am able to reorder the families, but why is webtrees not sorting it right?
(Yes, it is the RAW GEDCOM).

> why is webtrees not sorting it right?
Because webtrees adds everything to the bottom. This is also the case if you add children to a family. In general webtrees does not maintain a chronological order in the raw GEDCOM.
That is usually not a problem, because the list of events itself is sorted before it is displayed.
Only when adding another partner or when adding a child to a family you need to reorder it. Related issue:

> (Yes, it is the RAW GEDCOM).
Can you show me the raw GEDCOM of the person (not a family) containing that marriage?

Continuing with Bertkoor's comment, the GEDCOM for the Individual only contains a list of links to the families that they belong to. The information about marriages is stored in the GEDCOM for the family, not the individual.
> why is webtrees not sorting it right?
It's not just that webtrees is too lazy to sort things, but the general case is too hard to handle automatically. What happens if the Individual belongs to multiple families, and you don't have marriage or divorce dates for either of them? Do you want webtrees to look inside census records to see who was living together in different years? What happens if the Individual remarries the same person again after divorcing a second spouse? In my tree I even have an individual who served prison time for bigamy by marrying multiple people at the same time!
Make it easy on yourself. Just like the names at the top of the page, order the families in the way you want to see them.
