Mail sending options was created by joesse
The documentation says:

Is there a possibility to reactivate the old PHP mail()? That is the only mailing option my provider offers.Note: earlier versions of webtrees had an option to send e-mail using the PHP function mail(). Most mail libraries no longer support this option. Firstly, it always reports “success”, even if it fails to send the message. Secondly, it has serious security weaknesses, which cannot be fixed.

Do you have (or can you create) a GMAIL account?
If so, you can use Google's SMTP server to send mail.

I tried, but SMTP is not allowed at altervista.
