I have a number of cases where I know a person resided in X ending in the year Y. I do not know when the residence period started. How should this be indicated? "To 1717" is not valid GEDCOM.
Thanks

If you enter "-1717" (without the quotes) in a date field, then webtrees will convert that to an appropriate notation "TO 1717".

The date entry widget has extensive help page under the yellow question mark showing all these secrets.
