Reading through the forum and github the update to the census assistant for the 1921 census appears to have stalled almost a year ago.
Can someone please update on what the blocker is and what help would be useful to get this moving again?

thanks
Dave

Dave,

Thanks for putting this our there..

I have not used the Census Assistant Module as yet, how ever reading up on what it is and hoe it works might make life so much easier..

And certainly now that I have been able to access the 1921 Census Records that gives another round of additions to individuals, so having this sort in the Census Assistant Module would be excellent.

One might need to create an issue on GitHub?? I'm happy to do so if that is the right way to get it moving along..

Took me a long time to switch over to the Census Assistant (before webtrees) but once I did so, couldn't figure out why I waited! Life is so much easier. Thanks for heads up for England 1921 as I'm just adding census records to my tree and I'm sure will come across need for that one. I can figure out how to create the template but not how it's called by the Assistant.

There was an 'issue' raised for this here github.com/fisharebest/webtrees/issues/4374

@mac.alter

You might be able to help David Dury out or contribute directly.
If I had a better understanding of these things I would be happy to help too.. Point me in the right direction I will have a bash at it..

Keep Smiling

I have been using kiwi 1921 census for a while. It is great. The only pain is having to reinstall it every time webtrees is updated. It works, I need it. I do not want to wait for the next glaciation or meteor impact for a more 'perfect' or pedantic rendering of what is - an ASSISTANT!

So if my understanding is correct there needs to be a decision on how to display the 16 columns for current age of children. How it is done doesn't really concern me (we have some very sensible people on here who can devise a solution - there is no absolute correct way of doing it). Important thing is that the assistant is delivered so users can start using it to input 1921 census data.

I have been using kiwi 1921 census for a while. It is great.

where is this? i have looked around and cannot find a reference to it

thanks
Dave

The 1921 England Census on Ancestry shows age is expressed in years and months. Married persons are asked how many children are in ages "Under One" and consecutive options to 15. So what decisions are  required?

@mac.alter

I got the impression is was the total number of columns required to create the data within webtrees seemed unmanageable. And I also think that screenshot is the columns that appear to be in debate..

Does this info NEED to be included.. I can see benefit in doing so to a point as the instructions for this section do say 'whether enumerated on this schedule or not' implying there may be more 'children' than actually written..

Does anyone have a media file with the reverse side of the 1921 Census document eg: the Instructions? OR could someone advise what the columns are actually providing and why based on those instructions..

 "need to be include" > no, it's whomever at webtrees decide to include. If you have access to Ancestry I =19.5pxfound they have info about the census < www.ancestry.ca/search/collections/63150/?redirectFor=db.aspx >. (*.com I'm sure has same info)
The official people are the National Archives @ < www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20s-people/the-1921-census/ > . From what I see, in addition to basic info, they added
  1. Divorce
  2. Occupation and employment
  3. Children (the section in question)
My two cents would be add if there is room and if you don't want it, remove from the template.

An interesting =19.5pxcomment is added by the Archives:

The 1921 is Census is particularly important, as it will be the last census publication for some years to come – the 1931 Census of England and Wales was destroyed in a fire at the Office of Works in 1942, the 1941 Census was never taken due to the outbreak of the Second World War, and the 1951 Census is not due to be released until 2052.
