An analysis of the user accounts showed that almost 30,000 had never posted to the forum prior to 2024. These accounts have been deleted. The Registration process now warns that any new account over 60 days old, with no postings, will be deleted.
The forum carries old Categories that have not accessible for years from the web. These categories are in the English and French archives. These categories will be deleted. Analysis shows that the number of topics will drop from about 14,000 to 5,000, and the message count from 103,000 to 40,000.

you can log on every day or so to see and find out about other members' current questions, which is a great help to me.The Registration process now warns that any new account over 60 days old, with no postings, will be deleted.
But I don't systematically post an opinion, so if I understand correctly after 60 days my account will be deleted.
One year without logging in, the account would be deleted, yes, but not 60 days without a review.

You can view all topics and posts without having to have an account. An account is only needed if you want to post a question.you say

The 60 day rule only applies to new account requests not to older active users.

Hi Rob,... These categories will be deleted ...
in #1 of my post "How to embed a calendar safely (iframe or alternatives)?"] I wrote:
Is this related to your "forum changes"?btw: I found the following link in the forum search: www.webtrees.net/index.php/forum/help-fo...ay-iframe-tags#94283 . When I click on it I get this error message: "403 Forbidden : You do not have permissions to access this page.". Probably because it is the forum category 2.0, which seems no longer be available. Is it really not possible to access older forum posts?
If so, is there at least the possibility to read “older” (< 2.1?) posts in a separate archive or are they all already deleted?
Greetings
Dieter

This Maint task has piqued my interest in such things..
I am curious to know the percentage of Forum Members is against the number of WebTrees Installs??
Also what would the percentage of Active Members be against the total number of Furum Members??
And whilst you might not be able to answer this, how manay Forum Members use Modules and which do they use??
This a Survey might be able to provide some answer
Even how many active WebTrees Installs use Modules and which??
This might be pushing a boundary, maybe possible via the Stats Server though, and require Gregs coding knowledge etc..
I ask because as we all know we ask for various changes, additions, deletions of things within WebTrees because 'our' Ethnicity, Religion, whatever has different ways of saying, doing understanding various Genealogy Terms or Events such as Marriage, Divorce and the like.
IF you have some thoughts about such I would love to know.. Its just an ask, and it is an IF YOU ask NOT a ME WANT/NEED ask so ANSWER because you have to..

- Greetings from Utrecht, Holland
I'm quite confident these statistics are not available at webtrees.net. When webtrees 'phones home' while checking for a new version it only reports the webtrees version, PHP version and the used flavour of database.how many active WebTrees Installs use Modules and which??
github.com/fisharebest/webtrees/blob/mai...ervice.php#L382-L387
Also I have my doubts whether statistics about used modules will tell you much about what they really want and need. Although the big tech corporations may let you think otherwise. Don't let them fool you, despite all the telemetrics they gather, they really don't have a clue about what you want.
You could gather for instance what content admins put in their CSS/JS module (after they agree to share that ofc) but is there any one able to make sense of all that data? Who's going to do that work?
Anyway, I had a look at dev.webtrees.net/statistics.html again since some years. I think last time I looked it were 4 to 5k installs, now 7.5k. If memory serves me right it was 2-2.5k a decade ago.
What struck me was this sentence in that FAQ at the bottom:
> Each time the IP address changes, it will count as a separate server.
That might not be strictly true anymore, the sites running v2.1.3 and above (from the pie chart I gather that's roughly 90%) have a site setting SITE_UUID. But it's unknown to me whether this is used in statistics, or whether it's still the IP address that makes the call.
stamboom.BertKoor.nl runs on webtrees v2.2.1
