Web based family history software

I have developed a range of add-ons for webtrees available only from my kiwitrees.net web site: kiwitrees.net/simpl-add-ons/ . For any queries related to those items contact me direct from that site.

Question simpl_gallery2 - is it possible to exclude videos?

Yes, don't put them in the folder you are displaying.

I suspect you misunderstood (or I did).

You asked how to exclude videos.

The answer is to make a gallery of a media folder that has no videos in it.

The module will only display media objects from a single folder.

Hi Adem,

I saw you have only one video on your website. You may set a privacy restriction to that video.

Administration -> Family trees -> Your family tree -> Privacy tab -> section Privacy restrictions -> click on the icon of the small camera and search for that specific video -> then add a "Show to .." according to what you want, choices are visitors, members, manager, or hide from everyone.

The gallery module is NOT designed to display ALL your media items. It is NOT an alternative to the existing media list feature built into webtrees. Remember that Media List, if you use the "lightbox" module has its own "slideshow".

It is designed to display a small gallery of selected images. Most often these might be images not part of your family tree itself.

Look at my tree for example (Menu: Other > Gallery. Only one gallery contains pictures from my tree: "Our Family's Medals".

If you have a large number of images in your media/ folder, then gallery will not perform well, as it requires many images to be loaded into memory. That is not its purpose,. That is why it is called "simple".

Perhaps you have two but only one is visible to visitors. Perhaps the other one is linked to a living person?

To repeat for the final time.

This is a SIMPLE module, so it does not have lots of options.

To exclude videos, move them to a different folder.

I've fixed the problem with this way
media/
media/gencsoy/ (I moved all the pictures here)
media/videolar/ (I moved all the videos here)

Simpl_gallery2 > Add album to gallery >
Folder name on server:
media/gencsoy/
AND Save

Now you need to update the individual does not show display pictures

Not got a simpler way?

No need

media/gencsoy/ (I moved all the pictures here)

Why did you do this? You only needed to move the two videos.

See my earlier comment. This is IMPORTANT.
