Google Maps flagpole was created by achterberg
I know this is drilling way down, but: I am messing around with the maps, and added a few county and city flags, then had the idea to add a tombstone image for graveyards and a church image for churches, but everything ends up on the end of a flagpole. I'm not a google api expert, but looked through the code(s), but couldn't find anything to edit, can someone tell me how to get rid of the pole? I realize the flags won't have them then and I need to change the shadows, etc., but just to try and see what it looks like. Thanks, DAA

We're not Google API experts either. You'll need to go to Google for that I'm afraid.

I recall from someone else's request, just after our launch of webtrees, that Brian added the ability to load the level 2 flags. We had contemplated only level 0 and level 1. To add further levels to the core code would be both time-consuming and not very productive as too few users would be interested and there are much more important things to accomplish (including simply getting it to work right now).

Nigel's suggestion would also be reflective of my position - read the GM API functions and instructions, use their development forum and rewrite the code yourself if you think it imperative to include this. We added Streetview to provide images of many locations and eventually you'll be able to also load your own image to feature of a place within St-View (a plan of Google's, not mine).

Agree with Stephen, Google Street View is the place for tombstone and church images.

Jackie, Stephen

In achterberg's defense, I "think" he meant an "icon" for churches and burial sites - not actual images of individual places as such.

No 'defense' needed as
1) this WAS my understanding, but was pointing out current (and future) possibilities), and
2) reinforced your suggestion he contact the GM forum development team
3) he wasn't attacked for asking.
