Media file difference in media tab was created by janth
In WT 1.7.16 I see a strange difference where media files seem to belong to two different categories:

1. Some media files have the usual edit, copy and delete icons and you can easily edit the properties of those by clicking the edit icon

2. Other media files have no edit, copy and delete icons and you have to click on the filname link next to the image to get to a new screen where you have a filename editing option with the usual icons.

Is there any good explanation of this difference that have somehow escaped me ?

These are media files that are linked to the *individual*. For example a photograph of the person.

> 2. Other media files have no edit, copy and delete icons

These are media files that are linked to one-or-more *facts*. For example, you might have a photograph of a church that is linked to both the baptism and the burial.

To edit these links, you must edit the baptism/burial/etc.

Thanks for the quick response. Just what I needed. I am in the process of assuring there are no errors in the database using the tools in the control panel, as a prelude to converting to 2.0, to ensure there are no sursprises.
