Upgrade to upgrade to webtrees 1.7.18 interrupted and failed was created by potain
Hello
For some reason upgrading V 1.7.17 to 1.7.18 on the server was interrupted and the message "This website is temporarily unavailable" has not changed in hours. In the data folder the zip file seems to the correct size (31.9MB) but there is a webtrees-1.7.18 folder which size is 4 KB. So wonder if the zip file was fully extracted.
I've renamed offline.txt to offlineold.txt to see what happens - there is no response to index.php when I navigate to the site.
Can you please let me know the best way forward. Should I manually upload 1.7.1.8 ( leaving out the data folder) or restore the site from a back up and then re-attempt the automatic upgrade.
Incidentally before upgrading in Control Panel all the menu items at the top (users etc..) were grayed out. Any idea why?
Thanks in advance for you help and assitance

Manual upgrade. webtrees.net/upgrade/manual/

Sorry, no.
Development on 1.7 stopped at the end of 2016, and I haven't used it or looked at the code for a long time.
BTW - the only real change in 1.7.18 is a message telling you that 1.7 will soon be unsupported, and that you should consider upgrading to webtrees 2.0

Thanks Gregg
I think that I am going to be stuck with 1.7.17/8 because of the custom themes and dummy tress I made ( Advice on upgrading from wt 1.7.12 to wt 2.0.69 months 6 days ago) as I just do not have the skills to reproduce these on version 2.0.
Cross fingers it all works out when I ftp .18 to the server.
Cheers

webtrees 1.7 requires PHP 5.3 - PHP 7.3. It will not run on PHP 7.4
PHP 7.3 will stop receiving security fixes in December 2021.
Many web-hosts will require you to upgrade to PHP 7.4.
When this happens, you will need to upgrade webtrees.
I recommend that you plan to upgrade before then.
