Question [SOLVED] No upgrade info in control panel

First of all congratulations for this great program!
My problem is that I have lost the upgrade notification in control panel since version 2.0.
That was working fine in version 1.7.
Now, I need to check on github for a new release, and do a manual installation.
I use webtrees on Wamp server for a local use, using a virtual host, using a local name like: mywebtree.me

I suggest you read what I wrote and try to understand it before answering.
I'll wait now for some more accurate and useful answer.
For instance, explaining to me if this is a bug since V2, or is it related to my local install ?
Bye

So there is no bug. Every possible update in Version 2 is correctly notified in the Control Panel.

And when you go to "Control Panel" you should see something like:
So if you are not seeing these then you have some kind of issue with your system or your provider has blocked something!
Hopefully that helps!

I'm not so sure whether a 2.0 version notifies for an upgrade to 2.1 with known module incompatibility.
stamboom.BertKoor.nl runs on webtrees v1.7.13

I'm not so sure whether a 2.0 version notifies for an upgrade to 2.1 ...
It does.

My problem is that I have lost the upgrade notification in control panel since version 2.0.
That was working fine in version 1.7.
That means you are still on 1.7, right?
There is no upgrade notifcation from 1.7 to 2.0 because it must be done manually.

So my present config is : webtrees 2.1.2 - WampServer 2.3.4 64bits (Apache 2.4xx - Php 8.xx - Mysql 8.xx)
My main concern is why with webtrees 1.7 was I correctly notified of upgrades, but when I switched to version 2.0 I get the "No upgrade available message", even if an upgrade is available.
(Same problem happens on 2 different machines using a local Wampserver virtual host using a local url name of the form mylocalwebtree.me )
So my question is : does everyone has used this kind of setting and gets notifications ?
And if not, why does this kind of setting conflicts with webtrees 2 ?
Thank you !

Then said:My problem is that I have lost the upgrade notification in control panel since version 2.0.
That was working fine in version 1.7.
You are very confusing, your first entry (which Franz read as well) gave me the impression you were on v2.0 so I showed you that the upgrade message works for v2.0 of webtrees. Now you tell us that you actually have v2.1.2 of webtrees which is the current release. But if you were on v2.1.1 of webtrees you will get a message stating that you have an upgrade waiting. So my present config is : webtrees 2.1.2 - WampServer 2.3.4 64bits (Apache 2.4xx - Php 8.xx - Mysql 8.xx)
If you don’t see this message, then something is wrong with your environment!
To check what release is current look at the page: webtrees.net/download and see the information there!

Let me rephrase:
I was In 1.7, then I upgraded to version 2.0.
Then, I made all the upgrades available up to present version.
But I had to go to the webtree site to see if an update was available and if so download the zip file and do manual install.
I only need to know if somebody has an explanation for this behavior in webtrees 2:
Is it a bug or a protocol change that does not allow my local config to work any longer?

If you did not get a message and had to look for an upgrade then that would have one answer. Do you leave your system on 24/7 or shut it down when not in use? Is it always connected to the internet? I have used XAMPP without issue and get an upgrade message!
If you received an upgrade message and you tried to upgrade but it failed, what error message did you get?
Did you get a permission error? Did you look at this reply?
Did you run out of memory when you try to run the upgrade script?
Without understand what errors you received (if any) or what you see on the screen when you try to run the update it is hard to give answers!

I get no error, simply the notification "No upgrade available" in Control panel, even when an upgrade is available.
My machines do not run 24/7. No memory problem.

If this is the case, then webtrees will never be able to know about an upgrade.
Did you read post that norwegian_sardines linked?
It will tell you how to diagnose this.

I suspected something like that.
Still, what I don't understand is that for a time I ran V1.7 and V2 together on the same server (from alpha 2 and following), and I got V1.7.xx notifications but no V2.xx notifications.
