Problem displaying pedigree charts was created by rweinl
A long line of names appears intead of the box of the individual requested when displaying a pedigree chart (see attached picture).
This problem can be reproduced but not systematically.

Robert
1. webtrees 2.1.18 on D'Alsace en Lorraine < www.robert-weinland.org/webtrees/ > (PHP 8.0.30 - MySQL 8.0.30 - Rural theme 2.1.18)
2. webtrees 2.1.18 on Familles de Chérence < www.cherence95-fr.org/webtrees/ > (PHP 7.4.29 - MySQL 7.4.33 - Rural theme 2.1.18)

Is there a URL where I can see this?

Looking at the raw HTML of the page might give more information.

Thanks for the URL. I can now see that this is a custom theme, and I think the problem is with the theme.

In the standard theme, the root person has a menu on the left arrow, which allows you to select the children.

This is not being formatted correctly. You should contact the author of the theme. It should be a simple fix.

Greg,
That theme is Rural Theme by Jonathan Jaubart, and was not updated since the version 1.7.0.

Robert,
In the meantime, perhaps select another theme?

Jackie,

I will replace this theme by another till the problem is fixed.

I updated to webtrees 1.7.2 with the rural theme because of a message I found in the customising/Rural theme forum (see : message Rural theme 170 (up to 1.7.2) by jon48 4 months 2 weeks ago).

Greg,

You are right. The display of the pedigree chart is correct only when the root individual is not linked to his descendants.

Hello,

Indeed, there was a missing class in the CSS. This has been corrected in the Rural Theme 1.7.3 I have just uploaded.

Bien cordialement,
