I have been adding an adopted child to the family, adding "2 PEDI Adopted," then adding the adoption itself to the individual with date & place where known.
This doesn't seem to come out quite right, and doesn't seem to show properly in the family view.
Does anyone have a better approach?

GEDCOM stores adoption info in two places.

1 FAMC
2 PEDI adopted

1 ADOP
2 FAMC

You'll need to be more specific...

Sorry, I'm not clear on your answer. I understand that the individual will will show

1 FAMC @Fxxx@
2 PEDI Adopted

For lack of a better approach, I have been entering this by editing the raw gedcom. Then the individual will show

1 ADOP
2 FAMC @Fxxx@
3 ADOP HUSB
2 DATE ABT 1889
2 PLAC Helena, Lewis and Clark, Montana, USA

... and this is added by entering an "Adoption" event on the individual page.
The family raw gedcom for this adopting family now shows

1 CHIL @Ixxxx@

Now the Family View shows the adopted child as a child without any qualification, and the relationship chart fails to recognize this as an adopted, NOT a blood relationship.
I'm either doing something wrong, or not quite right, or ...?

When you add a child to a family, you can choose the pedigree.

To change an existing child, remove them from the family, and then add them again.

I just did this on the demo site.
Queen Elizabeth is now an adopted child.
Her individual page shows "Family with adoptive parents"

> the relationship chart fails to recognize this as an adopted, NOT a blood relationship.

The relationship chart does not examine the details of each relationship.
This is one of the things we do to get acceptable performance.

Thank you. The family page and the family tab simply show the adopted child as "daughter" rather than "daughter - adopted" as it did at some time in the past.
Is this a practical option at some time in the future?
