Fancy Treeview PDF was created by Harrie24
After installing Fancy Treeview PDF I get an error on generating the PDF:
"The file Antonius Gijsbertus ‘Toon’ van Helvoort 1921–1990.pdf could not be created".
What is the problem?

webtrees 1.7.12

I have exactly the same problem. This is, what I wrote in the GitHub Issues-Page for Fancy Treeview

" webtrees 1.7.9, Fancy Treeview Version 1.7.9, Fancy Treeview PDF Version 1.7.9.1, PHP Version 7.1.13

I deleted the previous folders (Treeview and PDF) and installed them new, Treeview works fine, but every times, I click on the PDF-button, i will get this error-message:
The file Descendants of Johann Jacob Rux.pdf could not be created.

It worked some versions before, but I don't use the PDF option a lot."

I think, this thread is better placed in Customizing, its about a Custom Module, not about webtrees itself.

Just a question (no criticism implied), but why do you need the module to generate a pdf for you?
All the major browsers have a built in “print to pdf” facility, just as they can print to a physical printer.

In my case it's a personal choice, I don't like to have web page data in the header and footer. And if you say there is a way to take those out, I'm just too lazy to do it. if there is a choice to print it in PDF why shouldn't it work? Avoiding the problem by working around it does not solve it.

I think it could be the pdf libraries not being compatible with the PHP version. I downgraded my server PHP to version 7.0.28 so that I could create pdf's with Fancy Treeview.

I cannot downgrade, because it is hosted.
Sure, there are other possibilities to generate a PDF but they are not as easy.
And.... if the possibility is offered it should work properly don't you think.

The author of this module is aware of the problem. It's already been raised on the issue tracker

github.com/JustCarmen/fancy_treeview/issues

Indeed. webtrees contains a lot of old code and old libraries that won't run with the latest versions of PHP. There is a major rewrite taking place to get everything up to date.

I tried: github.com/JustCarmen/fancy_treeview/issues/43
but the report generator keeps working. The "rotating star" keeps rotating without generating a PDF.

Harrie, may I ask (for future reference) what you did exactly to get this issue solved?

stamboom.BertKoor.nl runs on webtrees v1.7.13

To be honest. I have no idea.
What I did was downgrade the PHP version from 7.1 to 7.0 but I hardly can believe that did the trick.
Only after a few days the problem was solved.
Maybe it was a combination of downgrading and restart.

Sorry.
